While some people consider crates to be cruel, that couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, many experts say crate training benefits dogs in a number of ways, including allowing them to have their own comfortable lair, assisting in house training them, keeping dogs from being underfoot when an activity could be harmful to them and even allowing them to still be around the family even in situations where their being loose just isn’t feasible. The fact is, for many dogs, their crate is their happy place. Crating a dog when you have to leave the house for a while also gives you peace of mind in knowing the dog is safe where it can’t be hurt or destroy anything in the home. When choosing a crate, size is the most important consideration.
