Three Things to Consider Before Buying a Duffel Bag
Duffel bags don’t get the recognition they deserve, but you’ll sure be happy to have one when you need it.
Duffel bags are a great way to take your belongings with you, whether you’re heading on a trip or simply to the gym. Suitcases are great, but thanks to their hard, outer shell, they can’t hold as much stuff, and can’t always fit wherever you have space. Thanks to duffel bags, this isn’t an issue. Duffels are soft, thus can pack more things and fit in a variety of spaces. In addition, the handles on duffels make them easy to carry.
The material of your duffel bag is more important than you may think. Not only does the material determine how easy your bag will be to clean, but it also (more importantly) determines the durability of your bag. The strongest duffel bags are made of ballistic nylon and a fabric laminate and are made even stronger with thick seams and solid support straps.
Some duffel bags can hold so much that they become almost impossible to carry because you’ve packed them so full. This may even lead to risk with your back, which is not something you want. The right duffel bag offers easy ways to carry, including convenient handles and possibly a roller setup so you can roll your bag around. While the wheels add bulk to your duffel bag, if you plan on carrying heavy items, it may be worth the extra bulk.
Bigger duffel bags carry upwards of 155 liters, which equates to a lot of stuff. So if you’re in need of a bag that allows you to pack a lot of punch, then go for a big duffel bag. If you’re planning on heading to the gym or for a quick overnight trip, a small duffel bag is perfect to hold the items you need for your workout or overnight stay.
